The Texas A&M University Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy is fully accredited and offers a four-year professional pharmacy degree program (PharmD) and a graduate program in pharmaceutical sciences (PhD). It has recently added a Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program (CPhT). The college has campuses located in Kingsville and College Station, Texas. Established in 2006, its mission is to develop and inspire a diverse group of future leaders in pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences through transformational education, innovative research, holistic care, and effective outreach and service. Its vision is to be a preeminent leader in transformational education, impactful scientific discovery and development, and optimal use of medications to improve health and well-being.

A Brief History of the Texas A&M University Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy

2001.
House Bill 1601 – Creation of the First Professional College in South Texas

2003.
A groundbreaking on the three-story, 63,000-square-foot facility – featuring wireless access and research laboratories – occurred the same month Irma Lerma Rangel died, and the College was officially named after her in October 2004

2004.
In 2004, the Texas A&M System Board of Regents committed $3.1 million to hire the initial cohort of faculty and prepare for full accreditation for the pharmacy school

2006.
Following approval of the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy officially joined the Texas A&M Health Science Center in April 2006. Classes for the first 70 students in the College, on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus, began in August 2006

2010.
First cohort graduated and full accreditation was received

2013.
The Texas A&M Health Science Center officially merged with Texas A&M University

2014.
Second campus of the College of Pharmacy opened in College Station

2015.
Full accreditation was reaffirmed through 2023

2018.
First two-campus class (its largest to date) graduated

2020.
Graduate program in pharmaceutical sciences (PhD) was approved

2024.
Full accreditation was reaffirmed through 2032 and first PhD candidate graduated
Pharmacy Technician Program added and first cohort completed
