Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship

Children’s Mercy Kansas City is now accepting applications for its Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship Program beginning July 1, 2027. 
Funded by a prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) T32 Training Grant, this fellowship builds upon Children’s Mercy’s longstanding excellence in pediatric clinical pharmacology and offers trainees the opportunity to learn from internationally recognized leaders in:

• Drug evaluation and therapeutics in children
• Developmental (ontogenic) influences on drug disposition and response
• Pediatric pharmacogenetics and precision medicine
• Clinical and translational pharmacology research

This two-year fellowship is designed to develop the next generation of independent investigators and academic leaders in pediatric clinical pharmacology.

Program Goals 
The fellowship seeks to recruit and develop physicians, pharmacists, and scientists committed to careers in pediatric clinical pharmacology research. Through personalized mentorship and structured training, fellows will:

• Develop a strong foundation in the principles and methodologies of pediatric clinical pharmacology research
• Apply scientific knowledge and research skills to address important pediatric therapeutic questions
• Gain expertise in scientific writing, manuscript preparation, and grant development
• Create and implement a career development plan that supports transition to independent research funding
• Demonstrate the highest standards of scientific integrity, ethical research conduct, lifelong learning, and professional leadership

Requirements

Eligibility Requirements 
Applicants may include: 

• Physicians holding an MD, DO, or equivalent degree
• Nurse Practitioners holding a DNP or equivalent degree
• Clinical Pharmacists holding a PharmD or PharmD/PhD
• Scientists holding a PhD with a background in pharmacology or a related discipline

Candidates without formal pediatric training but with strong interest or experience relevant to pediatric clinical pharmacology may also be considered. 
In accordance with NIH T32 regulations, applicants must be:

• A U.S. citizen,
• A non-citizen national of the United States, or
• A lawful permanent resident at the time of appointment.

Permanent residents must provide valid documentation, such as a current Permanent Resident Card (USCIS Form I-551), or other acceptable proof of permanent residency status. 

All applications will be reviewed by the Program Director(s), and eligibility may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applications are due by February 1st, 2027 and decision on fellowship positions will be made by early Spring 2027.
