Position Summary:The in vivo pharmacology Scientist/Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist will participate in the Gene Therapy in vivo pharmacology lab to execute experiments in support of the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for genetic medicines. Level will be determined based on a combination of experience and qualification.
Key responsibilities include:- Work with project team leads to design and execute in vivo pharmacology experiments to characterize activity, distribution, and clearance of genetic medicines in rodent models
- Be able to perform animal studies following IACUC regulations
- Perform rodent handling and dosing, including but not limited to subcutaneous (SC), intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), and intrathecal (IT) injections
- May perform small animal stereotaxic surgeries including but not limited to intracerebral (IC), intracisterna magna (ICM) and intracerebroventricular (ICV) injections in rodents
- Observe and examine animals for clinical signs of disease, distress, or pain
- Perform gross necropsies, tissue dissection, trimming and processing, collect bodily fluids (blood, cerebrospinal fluid [CSF])
- Support technology development for improving the delivery of novel genetic medicine product candidates
- Assist in troubleshooting technical challenges and provide scientific and technical input to project teams
- Contribute conceptually into experimental design, integrated data analysis, and communication of results to scientific teams, with guidance from line manager as needed
- Provide written and verbal communication of work in study reports and team meetings
- Keep and maintain accurate and timely documentation of all practical work: completion of electronic notebook in alignment with Lilly procedure quality standards and Good Documentation Practices
- Provide general laboratory assistance, including ordering and receiving lab supplies, preparation of reagents, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations

Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in life sciences (e.g., biology, neuroscience, or related field), or HS Diploma with 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry or CRO experience, including 2+ years of hands-on in vivo pharmacology work.
Additional Skills/Preferences:- Experience in developing and working with in vivo animal models and assays to support drug discovery for neuroscience, immunology, or cardiometabolic diseases
- Hands-on competencies in designing and executing in vivo pharmacological experiments across relevant indications
- Ability to adapt and exercise flexibility for changing platform needs, workflows and projects
- Ability to craft, complete and interpret experiments independently, and to advance scientific understanding
- Excellent communication skills and effective in collaborating across functional boundaries and in team environment
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, multitasking, desire to learn new techniques and contribute to innovative projects in a fast-paced working environment
- Experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data
- Familiarity with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and analytical software associated with methods
